People have somehow built up this illusion that "alot" is a word. It's not. It's "a lot". I tend to get really salty whenever someone uses it so I've had to repress it for so, so, so long. This is where I can tell people about it! No, but seriously, this has been annoying me for years and I have to pretend to not notice it all the time and I just wanted to share this with you. When you use it in front of someone who knows it's not a word, it gives you a really young sound to your writing, like the newcomer who's taught how to RP but still makes a lot of spelling errors. This is mostly OOC terms, like "OOC", or "IC", or "ICly", or "OOCly", or "FailRP". This is the thing: When people use something like "alot" in character, it makes me cringe. You're supposed to use proper grammar, spelling punctuation, and all that, and I don't know why, but for some reason "alot" really angers me. I don't mean to be nit-picky, but it's just this one term that I'd like people to stop using. Also, if you couldn't tell, the post is kinda a meme already.
