Hello guys, welcome to the Vortigaunt application thread.  It is here you'll find the relevant application code required to respond to this thread with.
Please understand we're only accepting the clearly most talented roleplayers and passionate roleplayers.  Thus' Vortigaunt applications will be judged harshly so be warned.

How would people improve and learn from their mistakes then? Sure it's a hard thing to roleplay and u gotta know some big words and shit but having a good roleplayer apply and being shot down without knowing why doesn't help anyone learn or become better at roleplay. It will also send John 'Shooter' Morgan to YOUR steam asking why they were denied over and over again becuase being bothered to write a "Well yeah, but blah blah blah blah" is too hard.

Simply it boils down to this.

You make an app, and if it is not up to standards then it is denied. 
If you are told what you did wrong, You will fix it. And by doing so you may get accepted without really learning anything. 
All you did was take advice, You didn't figure it out on your own.
They want people who don't need to be told what they did wrong, They know and they'll work on it for next time.

You hit the nail right on the head.  The reason I don't provide feed-back with Vortigaunts specifically is because:
1) There is already a lengthy amount of information on them.
2) We want high-quality roleplayers for the role as Vortigaunts can be quite difficult to roleplay CORRECTLY
3) A monkey can can fix mistakes they're told about, a intelligent and self improving individual will fix their mistakes automatically.
4) Proof-reading is key.


Roleplaying a Vortigaunt well takes a certain amount of creative intelligence and in the past I've seen my fair share of horrible examples.

Vortigaunt Name: Vah'Zar
What do you hope to gain from playing a Vort?: I hope to bring some form of vortigaunt RP, since it's rarely seen on the server.
Provide a backstory of your vortigaunt: Vah'Zar was one of the vortigaunts who fled to Xen to avoid combine occupation. He remained in Xen during the Black Mesa incident, continuing the Nihilanth's bidding. After Freeman killed his master, he decided to live a "free" life and flee to Earth through a portal. However, a free life is the opposite of what he got. When the 7 hour war came he was enslaved by the Combine and put in shackles, being completely cut from his culture. He lived his life a slave, being transferred from city to city to do nothing but work endlessly. While he was out sweeping, he paid close attention to Humans and their behavior, culture, and more. Specifically the food. He dreams to break his shackles that weigh him down, and cook food for the humans. His first interaction with food was when he found a full bean can on the sidewalk, and decided to mess around with it instead of clean it up. He got a beating for it, but he thought it was worth it. The interaction gave him an odd interest in beans more then any other food, and it is the food he would cook most if free'd.

(As slave) /me looks downward to his still broom, sighing. He does an odd frown with his upper jaw, beginning to reluctantly sweep the dusty floor.

CCA.C45-LEGION-OfC.21135 nudges the biotic with his baton, trying to get him to clean the Nexus lobby's floor.
/me gives a slight groan, hesitating for a moment.
CCA.C45-LEGION-OfC.21135 raises the baton, striking the biotic, "Clean. /Now/."
/me makes a sound of pain, muttering something in Vortigese. The vort then begins to sweep, his weirdly shaped mouth turns into what might be a frown.

/me looks up slightly towards the citizen, then back to his broom, continuing to sweep at the practically spotless floor.
Jeremy 'Gobo' McCree: Gah, what are you?
/me doesn't respond, simply staring at the broom as he sweeps.
Jeremy Gobo McCree inspects the Vortigaunts shackles, "Those look tight...Need help?"
/me simply looks around slightly, making sure no Combine are around. If the coast was clear, he'd look to Jeremy. He says quietly,"Carry on, human...This one is not worth risking for..."
Jeremy 'Gobo' McCree: Fine. Stay stuck in those chains.
Jeremy 'Gobo' McCree walks off.
/me sighs, going back to idly sweeping.

Vah'Zar: With pleasure....The John Freeman must stay still....
/me closes it's eyes, raising it's hands out calmly. He begins lightly swaying them near eachother, chanting quietly in Vortigese as his hands begin to glow with a light green tint. He then moves the sway arms toward John, waving them over his injuries. The vort continues chanting, the wound healing itself. Once the injury was no more, the vort would open his eyes. "The deed is done..."

Provide an combative example of a /me using the Vort-essence:

/me raises his arms, keeping them apart. He chants something quickly in vortigese, before moving his hands near to each other, forming a dim green light. He then thrusts both hands outward, the green glow turning into a bolt of vort-essence, striking the enemy. 

Recomendations:

doggoh: (says i gotta get an admin recommendation)
Knife Play: No, your chars are bland and 2D. Even Clancy plays a stupid steroyytype

Accepted for Trial - You'll start out with an enslaved Vort where we'll observe how you roleplay your character.   Breaking free will require my authorization.   For future reference, work on your back story a little more and do remember, insta-charging a bolt at an enemy is a no-go unless circumstancial.   That is all, good luck. :)
